So the story begins in Boston, Massachusetts. Well it all
really started in the states around Lake Michigan. I grew
up in Wisconsin, and Luka grew up in Indiana. Even though
we would spend our childhoods only a few hours away from
each other, we didn't meet until we were busy embarking on
our careers in Boston.
Luka worked with one of my good friends, Steve Maresh, at
Intel. I had just moved from Chicago to Boston after
working on a recruiting contract for a couple of months
near Logan airport. We met at Steve's birthday party in
February 2003. A common connection of Freiburg, Germany
kicked off a conversation that made an impression on both
of us.
After that first meeting, we saw each other again a few
weeks later at a meeting of mutual friends. Then we ended
up running into each other more often at group gatherings,
and pretty soon we started trying to see each other. We
clicked in so many ways, and really enjoyed each other's
company. Our first date was dinner and a musical, 'Miss
Saigon', in September 2003, which was 8 months after our
first meeting.
Once we started dating, it was a whirlwind romance. Our
friendship also grew stronger through the years. In
November 2005, when Luka got a job opportunity in the San
Francisco Bay area at P.A. Semi, he asked me to go with
him. I agreed, and our relationship was propelled to the
next level. We moved into a charming flat in the sunny San
Francisco neighborhood of Noe Valley.
In September 2006, Luka and I went on vacation in beautiful
Zihuatanejo, Mexico. On the evening of our third
anniversary, on our moonlit balcony overlooking the ocean,
Luka proposed marriage to me and I of course accepted! This
picture was taken the night after we got engaged,
overlooking the lovely Zihuatanejo cove.
And here we are now, living in San Francisco, planning a
wedding, and glad to have you all part of the fun,
excitement, and celebration.
Take care,
Anne Marie
